Clinic website for doctors: what to include and how to get found on Google
What a doctor's clinic website needs in India: the pages to build, what to write, how patients find you on Google and why a booking button matters most.

When someone in your area needs a doctor, the first thing they usually do is search on their phone. They look at Google, open two or three results, and choose the one that looks trustworthy and easy to reach. If your clinic has no website, or a slow, confusing one, you are not in that comparison.
A clinic website does not need to be big or fancy. It needs to answer a patient's questions quickly and make it simple to book. This guide explains what to include, what to skip and how to get found.
What patients want from your website
Think of a worried parent, or a person with a toothache at 9 pm. In under a minute they want to know:
- Who is the doctor, and are they qualified?
- What do you treat?
- Where is the clinic, and is it near me?
- When is it open?
- How do I book, and what will it cost?
- Do other patients trust this clinic?
If your website answers these six questions clearly on a phone, it is doing its job.
The pages you need
Start with five simple pages. You can add more later.
Home
State what you do and where, in one clear line. For example: "Dental clinic in Sector 15, Gurugram. Open Monday to Saturday." Put a "Book appointment" button at the top, and repeat it lower down. Add a photo of the clinic or doctor, since patients like to see a real face.
Doctor profile
Write the doctor's name, qualifications, registration number, years of experience and areas of interest, in plain language. Use only facts you can prove. Do not promise results or compare yourself with other doctors, as medical advertising in India is regulated. Check the current rules of the National Medical Commission and your state council, and when in doubt, keep wording factual.
Treatments or services
List the treatments you offer, one short paragraph each, in simple English. Explain what the patient can expect at the visit, not medical claims. A separate page for each main treatment helps people searching for that exact thing, such as "root canal in Gurugram".
Contact and location
Show the full address, a map, phone number, WhatsApp number and timings. Add a "Get directions" link that opens maps on the phone. Mention landmarks and parking, as these questions are asked daily.
Booking
A page or button that opens your booking page. This is the most important part. Read our guide to online appointment booking for clinics.
Write for patients, not for doctors
Use short sentences and everyday words. Say "tooth pain" before "odontalgia". Keep paragraphs short, since most visitors read on a phone. Avoid long histories of the clinic, and avoid promises like "best" or "guaranteed".
Make it fast and easy on a phone
Most patients will see your site on a phone, often on mobile data. Check these points.
- The page loads in a few seconds.
- Text is easy to read without zooming.
- Buttons are large enough to tap.
- The phone number is a tap-to-call link.
- Images are compressed.
Open your site on your own phone and try to book as a patient would. If you get stuck, so will they.
How patients find your website
A website alone is not enough. People need to reach it.
Google Business Profile. This is the free listing that appears on Google Search and Maps. For local searches like "dentist near me", it matters as much as your website. Link it to your site and your booking page. See our guide to Google Business Profile for doctors.
Local search words. Use the words patients use, with your area. A page titled "Skin doctor in Indirapuram" is more useful than "Welcome to our clinic".
Reviews. Honest reviews from real patients help people choose you. Ask politely after a visit.
Share the link. Put it on prescriptions, visiting cards, bills, WhatsApp status and Instagram.
What to include for trust
- A real photo of the doctor and the clinic
- Registration and qualification details
- Address and a map
- A privacy note explaining how patient data is used
- Patient reviews that are genuine, with permission where needed
Never publish a patient's name, photo or case without their clear written permission. Be careful with before-and-after pictures and testimonials that make treatment claims.
Keep a privacy note
If your website or booking page collects names and phone numbers, say plainly why you collect them and how they are used. This is good practice and ties in with India's data protection law. Our article on DPDP Act patient consent gives a simple overview.
Website or booking page first?
Many single-doctor clinics do not need a big website on day one. A good starting order is:
- A Google Business Profile with correct details
- A booking page with its own link
- A simple website when you are ready to explain your treatments in detail
Clinicly gives every clinic its own booking page, free for a single-doctor clinic (one doctor and 50 bookings a month). Clinicly also builds clinic websites with booking built in, with doctor profiles and treatment pages, as part of its Clinic Growth plan at ₹9,999 a month (excluding GST). Many clinics start with the free booking page and decide about a website later.
Common mistakes
- No booking option. A site that only shows a phone number loses visitors after hours.
- Old information. Wrong timings or a dead phone number cost you patients and trust.
- Stock photos only. Patients prefer real people.
- Text inside images. It cannot be read by search engines or screen readers.
- Too many pages. A small, correct site beats a large, outdated one.
- Forgetting alt text. Describe each image in a short phrase so everyone can understand it.
A simple plan for this week
- Collect the doctor's details, photo and registration number.
- Write five short pages in plain English.
- Add a booking button on every page.
- Test on your phone.
- Link the site from your Google profile.
- Ask five happy patients for an honest review.
A note on speed and cost
Many clinics spend a lot on a heavy website that loads slowly on a mobile connection. A simple, light site often does better. Choose a clean layout, a few real photos and short text. Ask your developer or tool to show you how the page behaves on a mid-range Android phone, since that is what many of your patients use.
On cost, think in monthly terms. Ask what is included: hosting, the domain name, changes to timings or doctors, and support. A website that nobody can update becomes outdated within months. Pick something your team can edit, or a provider that updates it promptly when you ask.
Frequently asked questions
Does a small clinic really need a website?
A website helps patients trust you and find you. If you are not ready, start with a Google Business Profile and a booking page, then add a website.
How many pages should a clinic website have?
Five is a good start: home, doctor profile, treatments, contact and booking. Add treatment pages one by one.
Can I advertise my clinic's results on my website?
Be careful. Medical advertising in India is regulated, so keep content factual and avoid claims about results. Check the latest guidance from your state medical council and the National Medical Commission.
What should I put on the website if I have no reviews yet?
Show your doctor's profile, photos, address and services. Then ask your regular patients politely for honest Google reviews.
How much does a clinic website cost in India?
Costs vary widely. Clinicly's Clinic Growth plan includes a clinic website with booking built in for ₹9,999 a month (excluding GST). A free booking page is available on the Free plan.
